Business focus and goals
- Decide exactly what you want to achieve between now and Christmas.
- Identify your main priority for the next 30–90 days.
- Choose what specifically needs filling: community classes, workshops, events, online programmes, challenges or PT.
- Set a financial target for September, October and November.
- Work backwards: calculate how many clients/class places you need to hit that target.
- Avoid being distracted by what other fitness professionals are doing.
Productivity
- Schedule dedicated blocks for important business tasks.
- Examples: website updates, blogs, booking systems, content creation or leaflet distribution.
- Turn off notifications during focused work.
- Finish existing projects rather than continually starting new ones.
- Ask: “Is this taking me closer to my goal?”
Sustainable business planning
- Consider four areas alongside business:
- Health and physical/mental wellbeing
- Wealth and income growth
- Family and relationships
- Fun and interests outside work
- Build regular phone-free time into the week.
- Create a business that supports your lifestyle rather than causing burnout.
Local/offline marketing
- Traditional “analog” marketing is becoming valuable again.
- Use leaflets, flyers, postcards and QR codes.
- Distribute locally and door-to-door.
- Use banners/sandwich boards outside classes.
- Approach WI groups, community organisations and local businesses.
- Offer talks in supermarkets or workplaces.
- Partner with coffee shops and other local businesses.
- Work with local charities for events and PR.
- Combine old-school local marketing + digital marketing.
September opportunities
- Use relevant awareness campaigns to create timely events and content.
- September: perimenopause awareness.
- October: menopause awareness.
- Consider menopause talks, workshops, programmes and educational events.
- Use awareness dates as hooks for marketing.
Search, blogs and AI visibility
- People increasingly use AI tools to search for local services.
- Build a strong digital footprint so your business can be discovered.
- Publish location-specific blog posts.
- Example: “Pilates classes in [town/village].”
- Create separate content targeting nearby towns and areas.
- Write posts explaining each class you offer.
- Include current timetables and booking information.
- Update your Google Business profile with the same information.
- Use AI to help draft search-focused blog content.
Social media
- Test what currently produces enquiries rather than blindly following trends.
- Facebook Lives are currently generating strong engagement for the presenter.
- One recent Live generated four workshop bookings.
- Talking-to-camera “YAP” videos remain recommended.
- Consider 5 Lives or talking-head videos per week.
- Instagram carousels are performing well.
- Create a carousel showing each class/day in your September timetable.
- End with a clear CTA such as “Comment SEPTEMBER.”
- Repurpose useful content across Facebook, Instagram and YouTube where practical.
- Don’t spend hours editing social content.
Key takeaway
- Get back to basics: one clear goal, scheduled focused work and consistent marketing.
- Prioritise actions that directly generate bookings and revenue.
- Combine personal-brand video, social media, searchable blogs, Google Business and offline local promotion.
- September–November should be strong revenue months, so identify gaps now and take focused action to fill them.
