The Fitness Pilates Reformer course is designed to help Fitness Pilates instructors expand their knowledge and skills to incorporate Reformer-based exercises into their teaching. This course blends the principles of Fitness Pilates with the functionality and versatility of the Reformer, enabling instructors to deliver dynamic, results-driven classes to a broad range of participants.
Course Aims
- To provide instructors with the skills and knowledge to teach safe and effective Fitness Pilates-based Reformer exercises.
- To ensure a thorough understanding of Reformer equipment, its setup, and practical applications.
- To introduce modifications and progressions for different fitness levels and abilities.
- To enable instructors to integrate modern, functional movement patterns with Fitness Pilates exercises on the Reformer.
Course Structure
The course is a combination of theory and practical application, delivered through online modules. Learners must attend Reformer classes online or Face to face and log 20 hours of practice.
Part 1: Introduction to the Reformer
- History and Evolution of the Pilates Reformer
Understand the origin of Reformer Pilates and its development into modern-day practice. - Equipment Overview
Familiarisation with Reformer parts and setup: springs, foot bar, carriage, straps, and safety considerations. - Benefits of Reformer Training
How Reformer Pilates differs from mat-based Pilates, and its specific benefits for strength, flexibility, balance, and coordination.
Part 2: Fitness Pilates Principles Applied to the Reformer
- Core Principles of Fitness Pilates
Review of breathing, alignment, centring, control, precision, and flow in Fitness Pilates and how they translate to Reformer work. - Functional Movement and Reformer
How to adapt traditional Fitness Pilates movements for the Reformer.
Part 3: Reformer Exercise Library
- Basic to Intermediate Reformer Exercises

Plan and document 3 x 45 minute Beginners Fitness Pilates Reformer Class Week 1, Week 4 and Week 8. - Answer Multiple Choice Questions
- Log 20 hours of Practice – You will be able to take part in ZOOM Reformer classes Live or On Demand.
- Film a video teaching.

Important Information to know before booking:
Before attending the Level 3 Course you need to attend Pilates classes and be familiar with the exercises.
You will also have to do homework and preparation before the course begins – Attendance of all 3 live days is compulsory.
You are required to sit an exam during the course to gain your certification.
Both Kelly and I can’t stress enough to come to the course prepared. Make sure you have watched the Level 3 online videos, you have read the manual and attended as many Pilates classes as you can. Level 3 Pilates is a fantastic qualification and one that is held in high regard within the industry, therefore prepare and you will be able to enjoy the course and get the most out of it.
It is imperative you attend Pilates classes as a participant before you attend the Level 3 Training.

✅ You will also film your assessment using your own class members and send a filmed assessment in via Dropbox, we transfer, YouTube or Vimeo. This cuts down on travel time and days away and ensures you can film your class in an environment you feel comfortable in and show your teaching in a more natural environment.
This qualification is designed for instructors who:
Already hold the Level 3 Pilates Matwork Diploma.
Do not yet hold Level 3 Pilates Mat: we offer a package combining the Active IQ Level 3 Pilates Mat Diploma with the YMCA Level 3 Reformer Certificate. Learners will complete Matwork first.
By completing this course, you will be able to plan, deliver, and evaluate safe and effective group reformer sessions. The course covers:
✔️Applied anatomy and physiology for Pilates and yoga professionals.
✔️Practical skills to deliver group reformer classes with confidence.
✔️Techniques for cueing, progression, and modification.
✔️Exercise analysis and programming specific to the reformer.
1. I hold a Level 2 Pilates Qualification – Do I have to attend and pay for the whole course if I want to be Level 3 Pilates Instructor?
Yes, You have to attend and complete the 3 contact days.
2. I have no Pilates experience but I am a qualified Level 2 ETM/GYM Instructor can I attend this course?
Yes, as there is no longer a Level 2 Pilates qualification only Level 3, the course is suitable for all qualified Instructors.
3. I have passed my Level 3 EFK (Exercise and Fitness Knowledge Paper) within the last 2 years do I have to do it again and can I get a discount on the course fee.
If you already hold the Level 3 EFK then you don’t have to take this again. Unfortunately, we are not able to discount the course fee.
4. Is your Level 3 course an “official” Pilates course?
Yes the Course is an Active IQ Level 3 Pilates course and you gain entry on the REPS register at Level 3 and get 20 CPD points.
5. Once I have qualified am I able to call my class Pilates?
Yes, You will be a Level 3 Qualified Pilates Instructor.
6. Am I able to pay for the course in stages?
Unfortunately not, the full course price must be paid at once. If you employer is paying for you we can invoice your employer
7. Do I get any other course materials with the course?
Yes you will receive 1 Level 3 Pilates DVD and PDF manual.
